Aspirant Sunrise

This morning I’ve been listening to Rick Wakeman’s “Aspirant Sunrise.”

I know Rick is a keyboardist and this blog is centered around my guitar, recording and writing, but… the truth be told… as much as I LOVE guitar music, I love electronic music as well. I think there will always be an element of the electronic in what I record and write. So, having noted that… I listen to a lot of keyboardists as well as guitarists. In other words… such work influences my life and music as well. Consider what I posted yesterday in regard to Erik Satie.

Today… it’s Rick Wakeman!

For those of you who don’t know… Rick was with YES many years ago and has recorded a great body of work as a solo artist throughout the years. Being a YES fan, I’ve always admired his work and abilities.

“Aspirant Sunrise” is an amazing album! It’s pretty slow in terms of tempo and approach, but… I LOVE that! Today’s it’s been the perfect soundtrack to a wet and chilly morning.

If you love keyboard driven, ambient… new agey (speaking of the genre of music) styled music, you’ll love this album. It’s worth looking for…

On a different note, hoping to get some recording in today… working on a tune called “Saving Grace.”

Erik Satie

Lately I’ve been enamored by the music of Erik Satie.

If you’ve listened to my music you might notice some traces of a minimalist influence here and there.  The more I listen to Satie work, the more I desire to edit my playing… getting the most out of every note possible… and articulating as much as I can, by… playing less.

I know that sounds confusing… but that’s where I am today as an artist.

As I prepare to record my next album, “Autumn Reflections” I am hoping to capture some of what I am feeling in regard to this approach.  I’ve got so much to learn… but isn’t that what life is all about?

I have no idea who this is, but someone made a video for my song “Dawn’s Embrace” from my CD ‘A Place Called Home.” Wonderful images…

I am excited to inform you that my latest recording “Summer Reflections” is now available to stream and download here on Jamendo!

It is another acoustic guitar release… I know that will make some of you happy.  Also… a few tracks were lifted from my “Dreamfield” project and they were remastered for this release.  The reason why? I recently signed with a label called “Many Miles Music.”  They only specialize in acoustic guitar releases, thus using some tracks from “Dreamfield” for this new release on Many Miles Music… so keep that in mind.

I hope you enjoy listening to the album… I feel it’s some of my best work to date.

Please consider leaving a comment, review and also remember, I am a full time musician.  Your donations are so very appreciated as they help to sustain my life and my family.

Greetings to whomever reads this…

Here on this blog I will update you on my releases here on Jamendo… as well as share a thought or two on the recordings I am working. Maybe a general post from time to time… just about life, music… etc.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you’ll make it a habit to check in every now and again!
