This morning I’ve been listening to Rick Wakeman’s “Aspirant Sunrise.”
I know Rick is a keyboardist and this blog is centered around my guitar, recording and writing, but… the truth be told… as much as I LOVE guitar music, I love electronic music as well. I think there will always be an element of the electronic in what I record and write. So, having noted that… I listen to a lot of keyboardists as well as guitarists. In other words… such work influences my life and music as well. Consider what I posted yesterday in regard to Erik Satie.
Today… it’s Rick Wakeman!
For those of you who don’t know… Rick was with YES many years ago and has recorded a great body of work as a solo artist throughout the years. Being a YES fan, I’ve always admired his work and abilities.
“Aspirant Sunrise” is an amazing album! It’s pretty slow in terms of tempo and approach, but… I LOVE that! Today’s it’s been the perfect soundtrack to a wet and chilly morning.
If you love keyboard driven, ambient… new agey (speaking of the genre of music) styled music, you’ll love this album. It’s worth looking for…
On a different note, hoping to get some recording in today… working on a tune called “Saving Grace.”
